One year ago today, my parents got a package.
The next day, I was able to open the package. Inside were two plate frames for the dealership in North Carolina that my RAV4 was originally sold to. I wanted a new plate frame, but I wanted something unique to my car. I looked at the window sticker, reached out to Toyota of Sanford (now Fred Anderson), and they kindly sent me two plate frames free of charge. Though it’s very small, it’s a piece that means a lot to me. It isn’t a random plate frame or some overpriced school plate frame; it’s a clean look with a story.
One year and over 15,000 miles later, I still drive with Fred on the back.

I remember when you got those.

You know, this was making me think about a hot take.
When Gen X’ers “meme”, it’s worse than Boomers. Boomers don’t rely on early-2010’s memes, and they’re old enough to get away with being worse with technology.
Based on my understanding, this rubbed me the wrong way on what was supposed to be a sweet post. I’m sorry.

I’m confused, you wanted to have a dealerships name on the back, and front of your car? I assume there’s a story here? I’m not trying to disrespect, just curious. I try to eliminate any and all advertising for dealers with all my cars, so this seems counterintuitive to me.

That was nice of the dealership to do.

I too have slept on this.
Had
this had been posted almost anytime but late Friday night. The very maturity you appear to mock, yet hope to gain
the acceptance of, would’ve been here to greet you. (Tsuter, XJDano)
Try again, and try to be less sensitive towards light hearted, well meaning, pushes up to speed that are also a poke in the ribs. (Everyone who laughed)
Out of curiosity, could you provide an example of fresh technology usage by whatever generation or label you identify with?

Yeah, I’m sorry for overreacting. The frames were something nice that I really appreciated that was done for me, but I remembered that people originally thought the frames were weird instead of a nice gift when I first got them.
I actually thought about buying TAE’s Mexican frames he posted once. My mom actually told me to keep Fred on the back because it was nice of them to do that.

I told the story.
I wanted a second frame in case I got rear ended again and the old frame got broken. I wanted a new frame back then because I had been rear ended, but I wanted something unique.

Thank you, the fault here is all mine for mistreating your unabashed sincerity and, if I’m honest, old fashioned values on display. That gif is instantly annoying and unwatchable, but it is meant to be funny. Your unerring assessment was not only deserved but taken respectfully. I’d come across that admittedly dated (undateable) gif deep in a folder recently and probably pulled it out too quickly here.
There is a love hate relationship with stealers absconding with all our money and the relationships with people who work at them. I’d hazard multiples of us have even worked at one or more. What is at issue here is owner’s of dealerships overly promoting their own name on every car that passes through their lot. In this case I’m sure Fred Anderson was thrilled at being contacted out of something largely missing from business these days. Appreciation.
